Willshire is crowned 2012 BSRC Champion for a second year
Ben Willshire claimed the British Superkart Racing Club (BRSC) Championship for the second consecutive year after a solid performance in difficult conditions at Donington Park in November.
The club championship essentially runs in parallel with the national superkart championship but does not allow for any dropped scores during the season, providing recognition to the most consistent performing driver over the year.
Ben's nearest rival, Danny Edwards, had a 20 point lead over Willshire going into the final round at Donington so it would take some extraordinary circumstances for Willshire to take the title.
But, anything can happen in motorsport, and it did. Willshire secured second place in race one after managing to stay out of trouble and mix it amongst a full grid of 40 250cc superkarts. With Edwards suffering from engine failure, this gave Ben the leap he needed to take the championship lead.
Race 2 was somewhat more difficult, with Willshire only finishing 6th after having to take evasive action on 2 occasions to avoid incidents ahead of him in the opening laps of the race.
Still, with the final scores added up Ben had done enough to safely secure the championship and is very proud to have won the 2012 BSRC championship for RG Racing.
