Podium at Darley Moor
Darley Moor - Rounds 9 & 10
RG Racing from Basingstoke were at The Darley Moor Circuit near Ashburton on August Bank Holiday Monday competing in the BSA National 125 Superkart Championship.
Drivers Ben Willshire (Basingstoke) and Gary James (Ware) qualified 3rd and 5th in class respectively. Race 1 saw the 125cc class starting at the back of the grid behind the faster 250cc machines. Willshire managed to get a good start but was being held up by some of the 250 outfits in the first few laps. Once passed he started hauling in the 125 Superkarts of Butler and Edwards who had made better progress in the early parts of the race. James also had the same issued but was unable to get the measure of the 250 drivers and came home in 10th overall and 5th in class. Willshire managed 3rd in class and 6th overall.
Race 2 was the same with the 125 Superkart drivers stating at the back. The top 3 125 Superkarts of Butler, Edwards and Willshire made a lighting start when the lights went to green. They were swapping fastest lap time over the course of the race with back markers being dealt with quite clinically. At the flag it was Willshire in 3rd and his team mate James 5th.
This puts Ben Willshire in 3rd place in the BSA National Superkart Championship and Gary James in 9th. Both drivers produced personal best lap times at this circuit so a good weekend for the team and its sponsors.
