Ben at BHP Performance Show
RG Racing assist with Superkart Demo at BHP Performance Show at Lydden Hill
125 Open Superkart drivers, Gary James and Ben Willshire, were on track at Lydden Hill this weekend as contributors to the British Superkart Display which formed part of the BHP show at the Kent circuit.
An estimated 14,000 guests passed through the gates of Lydden Hill to see the Superkarts in action alongside the JDM Allstar drift series and other on track race and road car action. Off circuit the public could check out the latest tuning companies.
20 British Superkarts, made up of 250 twins, 250 Nationals, 125 Opens and ICC's, took to the circuit for 4 x 15 minutes demonstration runs - and of course the drivers couldn't resist putting on a good show!
For the RG Racing team, this was a good opportunity for a shakedown before Ben Willshire kick starts his 125 Open championship campaign next weekend at Anglesey. "The kart ran well in both sessions - we really do seem to have the engine set up well this year thanks to the efforts of PFP tuning and Apex Circuit Design" commented Willshire. "Although I was also having a bit of a 'play' around the circuit - particularly at the hairpin where the lack of grip made it very easy to put on a good show for the crowd!"
Ben spent the last 2 sessions sitting alongside the 'voice of karting', Ken Walker, in the commentary box to give input from a drivers perspective on the circuit at Lydden Hill whilst Gary James continued to put in some extra solid testing before his season kicks off at Snetterton.
Highlights of the team in action at the BHP Performance show can be seen on Motors TV over the coming weeks.
The team are out this weekend at the Anglesey Circuit. This meeting is the prestigious UK Cup meeting where Ben Willshire finished 4th last year.
